Historic Ritzville, located in the heart of Eastern Washington’s wheat country at the junction of Highway 395 and Interstate 90, is a community with a rich pioneer heritage.
The downtown historic district, listed on the National Historic Register, is a must see self-guided tour for visitors. Included in the tour are the Ritzville Railroad Depot Museum and the Dr. Frank R. Burroughs Home Museum. A large collection of Ritzville memorabilia, a restored Northern Pacific caboose, and a fully functioning telegraph office can be found at the Ritzville Railroad Depot Museum. The Burroughs home, built in 1890 exemplifies turn of the century living. Ritzville’s Carnegie Library, built in 1907, and the New Ritz Theatre, a 1937 art deco theatre, are also located in the downtown area.
Metal sculptures created by local artists depicting the area’s history are located throughout town while the beautiful city park and playground offer a welcome place to relax and share a picnic. During the summer months the adjacent water park provides a great place to cool off. A PGA recognized municipal golf course, walking/biking path, bowling alley and movie theatre provide fun for the whole family. Other outdoor recreation in the form of hunting, fishing and water sports is nearby.
